Don't let your script distract you

Writing a script before recording can be very helpful, but misused, can distract you from who matters most: your audience

The next time you find yourself recording a video, script in hand, whatever you do:

❌ Don’t read the script while recording.
✅ Look at the camera.

👇 Or see for yourself what it feels like to have someone read a script, their attention focussed on something else, instead of you.

If where you look during a recording can so negatively impact engagement, it begs the question, should you bother with even writing a script?

Well the answer depends on whether you can memorize your script well enough to be comfortable in front of the camera. If you can, then a script will likely accelerate your recording process.

But if you struggle to memorize, or find yourself looking robotic in your recording it might make more sense to NOT write a script at all.

That being said, with StepTree, you'll never be forced to choose; whether you prefer to memorize or ad-lib, recording one short step a time with StepTree makes your life easier.
