Quality over quantity

A simple mission but in our humble opinion, a necessary one

We live in a hyper connected world where sending a message is easier than ever. But it’s come at a cost: we’re all so overwhelmed, we have increasingly less time & attention to spend understanding one another. Is it any wonder reply rates are so poor? That the norm for sales people is to follow-up half a dozen times? That emails to friends languish, only to be buried in the daily deluge of marketing emails.

The way forward

So if modern communication feels overwhelming, and the solution for most, is to simply ignore it, the way forward isn't more of the same, it's better, higher quality communication that puts our recipients first. In other words, we have to prioritize quality over quantity.

But what does quality even mean in the context of the emails, texts and videos we send every day?

Well if you peel the onion as we have, consider the conclusion we reached: that every messsage we send is an an attempt to help the recipient understand something. And while the 'something' varies from one message to another, the constant is understanding. In other words, if we want our recipients to understand what we want them to know, and what we'd like them to do, then the onus is on us, the sender, to make our message easy to understand.

Making a message easier to understand led us down the road we've been exploring ever since — by treating every message as a step-by-step explanation, and not just another blank page, we discovered something rather remarkable.

One short step a time

Taking a step-by-step aproach didn't just increase the quality of a message, it also dramatically simplified the process of recording video — helping you to communicate clearly, it turns out, makes communicating easier.

So join us in our mission, let's improve the quality of our communication, one short step a time with StepTree.
